We are focusing on four endings this week. We are examining what the base word is, and how it changes to accomodate the ending. For example, for the words "using" and "leaving", you must drop the "e" from the base word before you add the ending. For words like "getting" and "swimming" you have to double the final consonant and then add the ending. For words like "emptied" and "scarier" you must change the y to i and add the ending.
This spelling list is building on the skills that we studied during the past two lists. Double consonants and change the y to i are familiar to the class now.
